Spherion Kernel
The computational core of the Spherion Operational System
The Spherion Operational System (SOS) is a system under development for scientific operations grounded in the geometric and algebraic framework of Spherion.
The Spherion Kernel is its computational core. It defines how represented states are processed, how operations produce transitions, and how execution outcomes are identified.
What the Kernel does
The current Kernel implements four operations:
- SHIFT — applies a supported change of representation.
- BAYES — updates weights using supplied likelihoods, with optional normalization.
- REFINE — changes resolution through refinement.
- COLLAPSE — reconstructs a state according to the defined reconstruction rules.
Each operation acts within explicit constraints. Refinement and collapse are distinct operations; they are not assumed to be exact inverses.
Explicit inputs, identifiable outcomes
The Kernel processes structured requests. It does not infer missing scientific information or silently correct inputs.
An execution can produce a successful outcome or an identified Kernel failure. A request may also be rejected by the interface boundary before reaching the Kernel. These outcomes remain distinguishable in the canonical response.
The Web Interface
The Spherion Web Interface provides browser access to supported operations through the existing execution pipeline.
Its first page is dedicated to BAYES:
Enter data → Validate → Review the canonical preview → Authorize execution → Inspect the result
The preview describes the candidate to be authorized. It does not predict execution success. Human-readable explanations assist interpretation; the canonical response remains the authoritative execution record.
Development status
The Spherion Kernel is an implemented computational component within a broader system under development. It is not presented as a complete general-purpose operating system.
The current Web Interface uses the pinned Kernel baseline
version/v0.4.0-draft. Additional interfaces and
capabilities will be introduced incrementally.
